The 1815 Campaign – a mod for Storm over the Pacific.

My latest scenario – Twilight of the Empire – is now available at HQ. It's a mod of Storm over the Pacific. It covers 5 months of 1815, when Napoleon returned to France for a last desperate bid for glory. It’s not all about Waterloo. Instead the campaign covers the whole Northern part of France, Belgium, part of the Netherlands and several minor German states. Not only are the armies of France, Prussia and Britain there, but those of Russia and Austria as well.

I know some of you will be disappointed that this mod can’t be played against the AI, but it is solely for PBEM-purposes. Only that way can the full potential of a campaign as this be employed, the nature of the scenario simply couldn’t be handled by an AI.

Anyway, even if you normally don’t play PBEM, I’ll still recommend a look at the scenario. Especially if you are a soon-to-be modder. If for nothing else, behold how wonderfully modable the ToW/Storm over the Pacific game engine is.

PS Just made a small, but necessary hotfix (August 15). If you have downloaded anything before reading this, do it again. You need only to replace the scenario of the package.

Really nice description site. I will take a closer look at final version of this mod tomorrow, but I can already say that it is impressive what you've made.

Well, thanks for that. Now I have to try it live. Since the excitement factor in a game like this weight heavily on the FoW part of it, it has been difficult to try it out while playing it solo. In a while I will know if it works.

Encountered a small, but still lethal problem. It seems that as long as the British hasn't yet got their supply to the Continent they can buy and place units in Belgium, but with supply established this possibility is for some reason closed. I therefore had to open a supply source in the Netherlands, chosing Rotterdam. This was unfortunate, for the Anglo-Allies now have a land source as well, which wasn't what I had intended. But it was necessary. Reinforcing or evacuating the army must still be through Ostend and Antwerp, however.

For those of you who have downloaded the scenario, download also this new cities.csv below, and replace the one in the scenario folder with this new one.

Attention. [8|]

Testing the scenario, I bumped into a difference between ToW and SotP I wasn't before aware of. It has to do with the fact that you now can't place units in territory not yours at the beginning of the scenario. This is a welcome addition to the game, but it messes up my order system somwhat in Twilight.

In the unlikely event that someone have decided to actually play this beast, hold your horses a day or two. I will make a minor revision to solve the problem and also change some of the other things I found better to correct. You can't download the scenario until then.

Unlikely? I'm already riding with the King's Own through the streets of Paris.

Could you please explain what do you mean? Are you talking about neutral territory or enemy territory?

As far as I can see, you can only place newly built units in your home country, or at least territory you controlled at the outset. In Twilight this means that when the coalition armies moves into France, they can't place their order markers (units in game terms) in previously French-owned hexes. Unless, of course, there's something entirely different that cause this situation.

There are two factors

Control
Ownership

Have to own to place.

Has Always been like that.

Add that as a hidden conditional territorial event.

If hex controlled by Y then convert ownership.

Making this happens skews game balance and supply as it it unrealistic to have new troops trained and deployed on the front in newly conqoured cities.

So... be careful in what you want.

By doing what you want the other player can not liberate their city and deploy troops.

You would have to make another event to switch control back to orginal owner.

That kind of event would have solved it. Interesting. But I'm now in the process of converting the scenario, so I better go on or I'll lose momentum.
