I have been away for a long time, but getting back into playing FOF.
My question is this:
When fighting battles using Quick Battle, are any of the Attributes used to determine the outcome of the battle?

Yes, they're factored into the calculations.

All of them or just some of them?
Also, is there a formula or something available that shows these things?
thanks for the quick response! [:)]

All of them. No formula's available, since it's pretty complex and embedded in many lines of code. Just take it on faith that brigade attributes are good to have for quick combat! (And here's a tip: the AI loves to purchase them.)

Great! Thanks for the info. Are there any that stand out ahead of the others?
For instance, I'm assuming that the type of weapons that a brigade is using makes a big difference in Quick Combat.

If you look at the weapons you purchase there is a coloumn that gives their quick combat rating, I do not recall from the top of my head what the coloumn is called, it might be as easy as QC or something similar.
I believe muskets as an example has a rating of 1 while Spencers have a rating of 5.

Ok, I do remember that now. Thanks, Terje [:)]
I am assuming that if a person uses only Quick Battle, the results will be far more accurate. Is this a correct assumption?

I think that if you play quick battles, the CSA will win quite a few battles at the start due to superior generals and better quality troops but that the lack of manpower in the South (depending on settings ofc) will eventually wear out the CSA.
And you are less likely to be able to wipe out the Union Army be making them surrender, so yes it gives a more accurate result imo.

(BTW take a look at the "Updated Appendix Tables" thread as the files mentioned there will give information about the bonuses the different attributes gives in quick combat)

If by "accurate" you mean reflecting the overall quality and size of the two forces, I'd say yes, since obviously a person with an inferior force who knows the game quite well might whip the AI, or a newbie who doesn't know what he's doing might get trounced despite having the superior force. (I guess a way to think of it is that Quick Combat lets you be Lincoln or Davis, raising armies and appointing generals and sending them into the field without being able to impact the outcome of a battle, while Detailed Combat is for being a Lee or Grant.)

Has anyone ever done an AAR using exclusively Quick Combat?

I believe that PBEM games would fall into that category. But I have never seen one for a solo game. I will read yours.

I don't remember. But do you mean one that included screenshots of QC, or just a strategic-only AAR?

Yes, screenshots.
By the way, can you pause Quick Battle in order to take screenshots?
That would greatly inhance my AAR.
I plan to do it like I did with my last AAR, The Richmond Confederate Newspaper.
I have to bow to Grey Hunter on this. His "News from the Front" AAR gave me the idea for this back when I did my 1st one.[&o]
I have my ideas worked out how I am going to change the political, economical, and population landscape for my AAR, which will be battled using exculsively Quick Combat vs. the AI. I hope to get my 1st one out in the next day or so. [:)]

Any answer regarding whether or not Quick Battle can be paused?
Thanks, Patrick

Not sure about that, but if you hit the print screen button, you'll save whatever is on your screen at the time. You can then paste it into paint at your leisure. Of course, you most likely will only be able to get one shot in a quick battle.

I have a question that is somewhat on topic. Does double-Zouaves help your troops or is it overkill. I like the QC too.

I *believe* it stacks. It certainly can't hurt to have two, especially in QC.
