This game is called Battlefield Academy. This might indicate I should be learning something as I go. Not much has been said about this aspect of the experience. Is it for real? What efforts have been made to make this a learning tool? I know there have been but I don't know what those have been. Might be fun to know.

Well I have learned you NEVER leave your armor unsupported. Never leave your infantry unsupported. Artillery from a 25 pdr. is a beautiful thang. Naval artillery is even MORE beautiful.

ME 262's are overrated. You can NEVER have to many engineers. An Elite 88, every home should have one. No, no don't thank me, just send me the next expansion for BA when it comes out. Oh, yeah, you are welcome.

@sabre1

I agree about much of what you said.

If artillery accounted for 80% of the casualties in battle then it is well represented in this game.

The WW2 battlefield is lethal without armor or cover. Would love to see smoke in this game.

Two Shermans are better than one & three are better than two & four are... well, you catch my drift. I buy as many as I can.

Haven't had any success in the game using gamey tactics so, I think it is doing a good job. [&o]

I would still like to hear from the developer side about the Academy aspect.

Pure speculation but the Academy bit of the title may be a remnant from the original BBC on-line version where I suspect Academy = "it's educational" may have been a way to get the commissioning editor to sign off on the "game".

Not that you can't learn anything from playing a wargame.

I think that there is a lot of stuff which you can discover from the game that you might not know - although it depends on how much WW2 trivia one might have absorbed! But we havn't set out specifically to make it an educational tool.

Personally I've learned how to accept online defeat gracefully ;)

Cheers
