I'm in 9/43 of the 8/43 campaign game. When US raids are moving towards northern Italy, usually around Orvieto or Rome, i access the list raid function. What i find is that the German air units based in Northern Italy aren't listed to intercept the raid I wish to attack. What I do get is units stationed in Western France and Southern Germany. It totally ignores ready units in between. I have to wait till the raid moves further north till the groups in question are listed as available to be assigned to intercept.

In addition I find with night raids by the RAF some German night fighter groups take off as I assign them and then promptly go into patrol mode shortly after leaving their home bases. Others trying to intercept the bomber stream wander off the stream and go into patrol mode nowhere near the planes they were supposed to be trying to intercept. I have to constantly reassign them. As soon as I do that others piss off and go fro a coffee break nowhere near where the action is.

You need to increase the alert distances in the doctrine menu.

Regardless of the alert distances it should still show the units in Northern Italy even if their alert time is one hour. They should still be there. Not showing Western France and Southern Germany and totally ignoring the Northern Italy units altogether. At least thats my take on it.

If it's repeatable for you, attach a zipped save game so we can look into it... It's easier for us if you take the steps to duplicate it, rather than us trying to replicate your setup...
