Probably asked before: WEGO or turn-based?

What's the advantage of doing turn-based as opposed to WEGO?
Which one is more realistic?
I'm finding turn-based to be too cumbersome so I started playing in WEGO.

WEGO is definitely faster but I really like turn-based w/ army activation to get the tabletop feel.

That also helps me keep track of where my battles are being fought and generally what's going on in that vicinity. With WEGO on, I have little idea what the nearby situation is for many battles that pop up and sometimes don't even know where it is. It's tough making important decisons on where to commit your reserves when you can't see the big picture.

EDIT: I think (not sure) the AI may be a bit better in WEGO mode, though. I've not really compared the two, yet, though.

According to the developers, the AI is designed for WEGO and suffers from some aggressiveness loss when playing turn based.

That's been my experience thus far, too.

I wonder how much pumping the AI aggressiveness slider all the way up can help offset that? I still prefer turn-based due to the reasons I mentioned above. If there were some way to minimize the pop-up window for battles, to see exactly where the battle is taking place on the big map, then I would be open to playing WEGO vs the AI again.
