Correct - this release is about Hannibal and seeing if you can succeed where he failed! Mind you, you get to see and fight plenty of Romans, they are not bit players in this game and they are very well represented with historical elections, realistic units and all the famous characters.

The reason a Roman option wasn't included is that playing as the Roman is not where the challenge is. A rational Roman player who is able to take the long view cannot lose this strategic contest. Rome's depth is much greater than Carthage's. It took a certain uniquely Roman folly to fall victim at Cannae, Trasimene, and elsewhere and give Hannibal his best chance, but most players aren't that blinkered.

Originally I wasnt sold on a Carthage-only game but it definetely works well. You will get your money's worth

At list the game should have been able to be played both side in hotseat/direct-link. Otherwise the no roman is really disheartening.

Ah, thought as much. The Romans played it pretty dumb against Carthage so a smart human with fore knowledge of history should be a piece of cake. The Roman Senate was pretty chaotic ... perhaps like Washington DC today ... [:D]

Take a look at the demo (when it comes out!
Why the delay??). You might change your mind. I'm a big believer in 2-player games myself but some games are just different ....

That depends on what one considers what their money is worth when it comes to buying games. I'm a bit disappointed this game is going for 40 bucks.

Agree. The game maybe good but the price has an influence since there are other good games in the market (even from Matrix) begging for the attention of the player.

I confess I tend to purchase most (non RTS) games involving Rome. I like to show my support to development of such. (Now if I can only find a Rome vs Dacia game..)

On one hand I feel like this is a $29.99 game (and since I always take a Physical + digital that would equate to $50 with shipping instead of the $60 I paid).
Not that I'm saying this game isn't high quality: It is! However, a $29.99 price point would likely drive sales a lot better, and give the consumers a better feeling of getting value for money.
That said, I whole-heartedly recommend this game. It is absolutely spot-on with the history, the feel for the period, the game mechanics, and the fun. Great job. I'll buy every game in this series sight unseen.

I would like to see more scope in a future release, like a game map that covers half of Europe in a campaign that covers the entire empire of Rome at it's greatest height. I really did like the demo and believe it's great system, but such a limited scope at this scale and only Hannibal/Carthage being the playable faction with no Multiplayer makes the replayability questionable at best. Not saying the game isn't worth it, but there are ALLOT of other games at that price point that would offer more. However, I don't want to turn this into a price thread so let's stay on topic.
