Are there any house rules that are used for para drops with re: to both sides?

I seem to remember that you can drop 'em if you have 'em, but no further than 15 hexes from the nearest friendly unit.

The rules make note of not droping more then ten hexes, but I am try to see what peolpe do with brandenburgers and such...

I am intereseted if people limit the drops of non para units.

I always limit the range of the Brandenburgers to 10 hexes to the nearest friendly ground unit in my FITE games when I play as the Axis.  Any further away from support tends to get the paratroopers killed off with limited benefit as the overall result.  There are exceptions, of course, but I've rarely seen any exceptions.

I ask becuase the Brandenburgers although elite were not trained to fight in para battalion role.

They had many capabilities but it seems the game has taken a para drop capability that is not historical.

How many times during WW II did the Brandenburgers drop and fight at a battalion level?

In the grand scheme of things I know this is a minor issue but I keep tweeking a set of house rule to see if I can get he computer game up to the level of the board game. (both are great...)

Brandenburgers did get dropped but as you said, not as battalions. One thing you have to remember in the game. If a para unit is destroyed and then reconstitutes it will no longer be able to be dropped by air. Special Forces units can't be reconstituted at all.

I always use a special system. Including 10 hex restriction:

paradrop every 6 month after one mission
Brandenburger every 3 month.

So there is no "allthetime use"

same with soviet omsbon (3 month) and paradrop (6 month)

I love this rule. Makes it more historical and therefore realistic. You'd have to write something down, or keep track some other way, for each seperate unit that gets dropped but hey, I already take notes so it's not really an increased major hassle. Cool. Keep up these great ideas dude.

EDIT: why does the forum software "erase" the spaces between my periods and the next sentence?

As I understand, Larry, Matrix is using an OLD version of the software for the forum........on my computer the darling wont go to the bottom of a thread to read a 'newpost' anymore.

Oh well, eh?
