After playing the demo I can say that I really like this game, one problem though - is AI always this passive? In one scenario I played so far I left my original VP unguarded with AI units not that far away and they never moved to take it.

The defensive AI can seem fairly passive as it's defending VP's mostly. In that sense, the AI's similar to PG's which, if set to defensive, would also not do much.
