D-Day + 3

Okay, I need some strategies. I'm in to the third turn. I have troops in the town and armor behind the town. I got Shermans and brits climbing down and the pumas I can't seem to utilize properly. I can feel a bloodbath coming and it ain't going to be the allies. I'm playing the Axis.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you try over at Slitherine? I can't get through the first battle.
I think you will need this too.

You can always turn down the difficulty to help get through any especially tough segments of the battle. It's often the case that just getting the win gives enough new info to then make winning it without any help much easier.
Cheers

Well, I conceded the game. The Axis still to me does not feel right, and I do realize that this is subjective. I need to do a PBEM game with a friend and talk about the results as we play.
I thanked my opponent for the lesson.

I played one MP game and realised that I didn't know the game well enough to beat the AI. I'll try again someday.

I have one some MP games, so I'm not a total noob, and have played all the campaigns with most at 3 stars and many times all of them.
I think I still have a problem with opportunity fire. If an armor unit advances down a road in plain sight of superior German sighting systems, they should die rather than my units.
The Hummel unit that I had in the D-Day + 3 did not seem very effective for it's percieved reputation of destruction. SS infantry in buildings broke way to easily in my mind. They should have stood their ground until destroyed. Armor units that were suppressed did not recover suppression in one turn. Stugs to be specific and Pz IV's.
These are just observations and really don't mean anything other than to me, but it was how I felt while playing, and ultimately I bailed on the game conceding to my opponent politely of course.
I doubt I will play MP for awhile unless it is with a friend, so we can compare results, without emotions becoming a factor.
Now where is LarryP? We need to play this MP.

Opportunity fire is poorly understood. Units will fire at anyone that comes in to sight if they have mroe than 1 shot left and they are visible. If not they will wait until they think their shot is likely to count, or they are discovered. The closer the target gets the less likely they are to hold fire. The more dangerous the target is the less likely they are to hold fire. If you used up all your shots in your turn you have only your 1 bonus shot to Opp Fire with. There is a lot mroe goign on under the hood but that gives the gist of things.
The Wespe unit is lethal - I assume you used its bombard feature? It never even gets seen by the troops it devastates.
SS infantry have nigher morale than normal infantry. They are very tough but not invincible and do not always fight to the death. Without knowing exactly what happened its hard to say where it went wrong for you.
Units only recover if they go through a full turn without being under fire. If you are gettign shot at continuously you will never recover.
I think it's just some of the rules were not clear to you. It's somethign we need to work on though as if one person is having trouble you can bet many others are too.
