My combat replay is crawling along and last night I had to watch for well over 30 minutes one particular combat..... I'm after the fastest run through I can get.

Stuck in the night phase? Might be the problem with sound, try using the sound switch (I think it is -multiaudio)

No its just devilishly slow all the way through, it runs, but stutters and everything takes time.

Roger do you defrag your computer often? I use a program called PowerDefragmenter to help speed things up when my Combat animations are slow, I have AE installed on a 2nd Partition (D drive) and a Flash Disk, my linux netbook doesn't need to be defragged, but seems my vista desktop needs a defrag once a week otherwise the game seems to slow down.

If combat animations are off in your settings, you shouldn't be seeing them.

Good point, its a PBEM game and I'm allied, so I think the Jap settings override?

Just hit escape once to accelerate to the next combat report. If that doesnt work, I'd get tech support involved

Roger

Usually the Japanese player determines the settings.
You can easily find that out if this is the reason for your issue. Load the next save after the combat replay and check the settings there.
On the other hand you could just ask your opponent... [;)]

That certainly doesn't work, my ESC key is battered into submission through trying it.

Roger, I think if you set your delays to .01 and not .00 things will go faster. Not entirely sure.

I'm Roger opponent - these are the settings I use - a few of the animations are a bit slow so I do occaisionally shut the window manually. Note you can use 0.1s as a setting.

P.S. It normally takes circa 5-10 minutes to run combat with these setting with the occiasinally manual intervention usually in combat.

P.P.S I'll decrease the troop vs troop to 0.1 to see if it speeds up.

Yes significant defragging needed, I work on a Mac so had forgotten that pesky aspect of a PC. Now racing along very happily on 0 delay settings.

NTFS doesn't really need defragging. You can do it but it "shouldn't" make any difference.

How old is the drive? Is it making any noise (different than when new)?
