Ok I'm having trouble understanding the simul diplomacy. I'm hosting a game that is upgrading to v1.08.04. I'm playing Turkey. I've loaded all the land phases up to the end of the turn, then upgraded to v1.08.04 and taken a backup which I have distributed.

I then load my copy of the backup and I notice -

1. It says French diplomacy although it lets me play Turkish diplomacy.
2. When I try to manipulate a neutral minor it shows me French available money not Turkish.
3. When I hit 'end phase' I get the error "Could not AutoSave game" twice.
4. It then says Russian Diplomacy is up.
5. I have a file in commout but no save game !

Can anyone shed light on this ?

OK solved point 3. I had a folder the same name as one of the save files should be.

I think the problem was created when you upgraded during the diplomacy phase. I think you need to upgrade before the last land phase is played, as it is this land phase that sets up the sim diplomacy, not the French diplomacy phase. Upgrading during diplomacy causes chaos as the sim phase has not been initiated in the land phase.

Not sure what to suggest, use the host funtion to skip all the dip turns until reinforcement. Or revert to 1.07 until you are through diplomacy.

To anyone else, don't upgrade during your diplomacy phase.

Ah, I see the problem. I had guessed that upgrading during the diplomatic phase might be an issue, however I assumed that upgrading after the land phase and before anyone played their diplomatic phase would be OK. It seems it isn't. I have taken the precaution of keeping several backups so I'll work back and have another go at this.

Yea, I did not catch this but it does make sense. Upgrading a game from during an IGO-UGO diplomacy to SIMUL diplomacy could freeze the game in place forcing you to use backups! I will post an FYI!

Not 100% certain but it also looks like once you are running v1.08.04 a backup taken at the start of diplomacy doesn't work properly, everyone shows the host nation's phase as being up.
