So what the go with AI players.
Playing solo.
Also can there still be 2 PBEM players without one player playing Spain?

Indeed, I would like to know that as well. We have a game with 5 human and 2 AI players (Turkey and Spain). Can we upgrade to 1.8.04?

I don't know the answer for PBEM games without 7 players, but I think if Spain is an AI, then you can not upgrade to 1.08.04 in PBEM games. I think the Spanish turn is required to resolve the diplomacy, however, I'm not sure and this might be ok. Likely someone needs to test this before you upgrade.

I don't think there is any problem playing a solo game in 1.08.04.

The only known issue is still Spain CANNOT be an AI player for the simul Diplomacy to work properly.

That was the last word from Marshall going into v1.08 release. AFAIK, that hasn't changed.

CORRECT!
This has not been fixed yet. I did not want to delay 1.08 any longer so we released with this exception! There were too many fixes that we needed to get out!

One potential work around is to use the host's "let the AI" play my turn function. You might be able to set Spain up as a dummy player (say anyone except the host). When the Spanish turn comes up, the host can select the game to have the AI play that turn, so essentially you have the AI playing the turns. This might not work for the diplomacy turn, so for this turn only, the dummy player might have to play the Spanish turn (create a backup before the Spanish diplomacy turn and test both methods).

Alternatively, find a human Spanish player.
