Carthaginian Senate (Hard level)

Just started a new game on the most difficult setting to try it out. Both times the Senate wants to reinforce Spain. I agree both times. Both times it has said "Raid Sardinia" and "Reinforce (or Attack) Syracuse". Does it change it's mind simply because I agree with them? Seems weird that it would do this. Do I have to recommend an opposite course just so that I can get what I want? That doesn't feel right to me.

Thoughts?

I mean I get the whole political angle. That happens. But to burn a card just to convince them of something they already want seems a bit... harsh?

The way I understood it was that there's a % chance for each with some weight added for various happenings and another weighted amount added for what you choose.

The way the senate is leaning is only the highest % rated of the lot, it's not an assured thing with them, as all options are supported to some extent.

Ok, so what I want + what the Senate wants is say (pulling numbers out of nowhere) a 75% chance. The die roll comes up in the other 25% and it's off to Sicily?. So it's just a matter of a bad die roll and not just to be contrary?

Yes, there is still random chance involved.

What is favored by the senate is only the highest one.. say it's 29%. The next highest may be 28% and so on. If farms have been raided at home, I know it moves the likelihood further for the senate voting to reinforce home plate. I'm not sure of the other modifiers that can affect it from gameplay, though.

Just keep in mind that even after your have chosen, there's still some likelihood for each one to be chosen. You're just trying to raise the odds that your choice wins. Kinda like gambling, I guess. [:D]
