This will be a different sort of AAR's , on a seldom reported scenario. Yuri (Onime) and I will be playing mirror games on the Coral Sea scenario. I hope that he chooses to do a pair of AAR's also. But this one, and it's mate to follow, will be mine , so Yuri, please stop reading these posts now.....(and go get your own![:D]).

For my opening move, I basically decided to undo everything Adm Hara did. (As SE Morrison called him, "The Japanese Admiral with the Irish name). I felt that he foolishly divided his forces, so basically I ordered all ships to Rabaul for consolidation and reorganization. I moved all of the planes from Truk , sending LBA to Rabaul, and seaplanes to Shortlands. I pulled the scout planes off the two AV's , and replaced them with Rufes to provide CAP for them. (Having split the unit into 3 groups, one to each AV, the third to Shortlands). I split the zero group on Rabaul , sending one third to each carrier. Then the group from Lae was moved to Rabaul to provide escort for the LBA and some CAP.
My Netties (3 groups) were put on naval attack. My Emily's on naval search (as with all my float planes). Once I get the carriers sorted out and combined, then I can go looking for trouble, and see what I can do to "break" PM.

Emilys on naval SEARCH? OK, I guess. Have you considered trying them on naval ATTACK? [:D]

No. Too gamey![:D]
Alright, have it your way...[:'(]
What search rates (%) do you use? Do you hard code 'rest' % in your pilots? Do you use search arcs?
Recommend keeping your Emilys below 60% search, lest their ops losses climb prohibitively. That, combined with a very high service rating makes them important airframes to pamper.

I've abandoned search arc, normally make the buggers work 70% of the time and let manage their own rest out of the other 30%. Do I have to tell them to rest? And they don't fly more than 60% of the time? I thought they were Imperial Japanese Navy, not USAF! Next you'll tell me that they've got to have air conditioning, swimming pools and cable![:D]
