How long will we have to take advantage of the discount offer? I have my code already. Thanks.

Hi Rosseau,

There is no current limit planned to the discount code offer. We may choose to end it in the future, but if that happens we'll give plenty of warning.

Regards,

It's really just a matter of how long I can hold out. Thanks for the quick reply.

How about a $35 - $40 discount for owners of both Harpoon 3 and Larry Bond's Harpoon? To put it mildly, I feel "put upon" after having bought both Matrix Harpoon games within the year. Without a discount for both purchases - I will pass on Ultimate.

I agree on people who own both H3 AN and LBH.

I'm sorry, but there are two reasons this was not done. First, with the fixed costs we cannot afford to sell any game for $10 a copy and for the purpose of supporting future development of Harpoon, each release does have to stand on its own. The previous releases are now three and four years old. Everyone who owns them, whether they bought them on the first day of release or applied the updates after purchasing them recently, benefited from 3-4 years of free support and improvements which we provided gladly and we will also be providing the updates to the Ultimate Edition versions free to existing customers (though support for the previous released will end after that).

Historically, that's about the pace for previous releases in the series simply because you can't support development of free updates indefinitely - releases do decline in sales over time and new releases bring fresh attention and new customers to a series like this one. Staying with one release and just providing free updates or below cost upgrades indefinitely would only lead to one result, which would be the end of further development. If you own and enjoy Harpoon, the discount allows you to buy the new release for $35 download, which gives you the latest releases of both Harpoon games and all the classic versions for the same or less than a single release cost 3-4 years ago. I realize times are tough, but if you are a fan of modern naval warfare, I think $35 is a fair price to ask every 3-4 years to continue development on the best modern naval warfare simulation around.

Regards,

- Erik

I've been keeping up with the Admiralty Trilogy paper rules. I'll concentrate on that. Wish computer Harpoon well - but no Ultimate for me.

Matrix boasts for its three or four years' support, actually you will find that after the initial 3.70 release of ANW, we only got 3.8, 3.90 and 3.94 (three updates in all). Each time the new update released, more and more new bugs appeared (as someone pointed out), and we haven't got anything after 3.94, which had been released almost one and half years ago. As for HCE, we only got two updates since its release, no more update since 2009.
