Hey all - added this game just now to the endless list of Matrix games I have which I never have enough time to play [:D]
I used to like Strategic Command years ago but didn't like Strategic Command 2 (mostly the single unit attacks single enemy thing, I like combined attacks more - plus the maps were rather oddly laid out).
Anyway, stumbled across this one and giving it a try - first impressions are good, and just wanted to say hi in this forum while I wait for War in the East (which I will also buy and not have much time to play lol - gotta keep these folks in business).

Welcome, TR.
Snap.
Loved Strat Comm. 1, hated the iso view of SC2.
TOW and SOtP both fun games.
enjoy

Have to agree. If you ever liked Rise & Decline 3R, then you'll love WWII:ToW.

This is an under developed gem. Just a little work on the Naval game AI and we have a classic. Kind of hard to make money on upgrades however. They did just do a good one but left some problems that you have to work around if playing against AI.This is as close as your going to get at this time to a great, playable WWII strategic simulation.

it's at the bottom of the list of scenarios. just keep playing and tutorial messages will pop up after you hit end turn after some of the turns
you can also play the poland scenario a couple times and it will become obvious how the land and air game work
i found playing only italy and finland in the 1st grand campaign was a great small scale way of getting used to the game too - italy is on the offense, has a moderate amount of units, and a navy that stays local so you can get used to how the navy works. finland has to defend from the USSR in the winter war so it's a good exercise in defending (against the ai it's pretty easy to do)
i used this thread as the basis of my plan for the 1st couple times i played italy

Thanks but I don't see any tutorial. The last scenario is "overlord" and no pop ups when playing. I am missing something ..

Hi Nukkxx,
What version of ToW are you playing? Here's a screenshot of the scenario's list as it should be with version 1.81:
As you can see the "Tutorial" is at the bottom of the list and I have high-lighted it....
Maybe you need to perform a reinstall? ... dunno..
