Question Airbase supply hits

All of us know these hits, but i´m not sure how much damage they do.
In the manual i found nothing about these hits, just for runway and airfield service.

Is one hit =1% of the target field supply ? Or is it a fixed amount that is destroyed by one hit ?
My opponent said is PROBABLY the same as in original WitP.

Please answer this only if you know it for sure. One of the developers would be great.
Many thanks.

One of the devs indicated a few weeks ago that it varies, size of the weapon hitting makes a difference. It's not fixed at 1% in AE.

Thanks bilbow, but what range can it be ?
From 0,8 to 1,2% ? Or can at smaller bases one hit destroy even 2 or 3%

I would like to calculate how long i have to pound Bataan and Clark to destroy most if not all of the supplies.

Do you have a link to that old threat?
Found only this one: tm.asp?m=2440388&mpage=1&key=supply+AND+hits&#2441591

The amount of supply destroyed is a random amount based on the device's effect and anti-soft ratings.

This could be anything from 1 to the device effect*anti-soft/100.

[I don't normally look at questions/ comments here]

@Michael,

Hope you look again at this.

Can you give me a math example for the
jap 250 kg SAP bomb ?
It is listed with
effect: 370
anti-soft:37

Using your formula i get 136,9. No idea how to use that value....

The way I read the formula, using your numbers, one bomb hit will destroy a random amount of supply between 1 and 136 (or 137 with rounding).

So, to calculate long term, I would probably use the half way point of that range as an average for each hit from those type bombs.

I don't know how this fits in here, but in the emergency reinforcement testing runs I've been doing as the Japanese I noticed that often there is a phrase in parenteses next to a supply hit giving the exact number of supplies destroyed.

Here's an example from the run I did last night:

Airbase hits 8
Airbase supply hits 2 (lost 182 supply)
Runway hits 35

In my experience the Allies do not ever get this report with an exact amount of loss. Was it always there for the Japanese side, or was it an add in a patch?

Wow, I always play the Allies, so I've never seen that before!  [X(]

Ok, between 1 and 136 is what Michael wrote. I was just sticked to the % value which seems to be gone now.

Btw, i play the japs and never saw the (lost xxx supply) when i hit the enemy airbase supply. Using the latest patch.

What mode are you running that in (I assume not PBEM), and do you have FOW on or off? I suspect what you are seeing is not typical of a PBEM with FOW. (I play both sides and don't think I've ever seen that)

Yep, no FOW will show this.

Ok, Michael.

Another question:
Since the percent value is gone and my Sally airbase supply hit can destroy max 136 supply
is there anything i can do to increase number of supply hits ?
Is there a higher chance to hit the supply the more supply is stored at the airfield ?
Is the airfield size a factor here ? (Bigger airfield can store more supply without increased hit chance ?)

My point is with the old rule you needed about 100 supply hits to destroy 50k supply at a field
(the 1% thing). Now i need at least 350 (realistic value 700+) hits when i use the new formula.
And this sounds to me like a mission impossible. Not to talk about the plane losses during such a long time.
Maybe you can tell us something about this. Manual didn´t show any informations here.

Don't let your math teacher see this...

50 000 x (0,99^100) = 18 301 supplies left after 100 supply hits in the original WitP.

Ok, i was not correct since you´ll never get 100 hits same time. Stupid me [:D] And with the 1% rule you would need more hits
for total destruction. So you would need about 300 hits for bringing the 50.000 supply down to 2500.

Long term i´ll now calculate with 68 supply destroyed per hit when i use the 250 Kg bombs.
I need more bombers for Clark....

No we don't.

And we also don't seem to hit as often either. Raided Vladivostocck with a total of around 180 bombers (over several strikes) and got like 6 Airbase Supply hits.

Could have knocked me over with a feather too. I can't say they always get that, in fact I'm pretty sure they don't, but they do sometimes. Don't know if has to do with DL, or a recon asset moving in the same turn, or something else, but sure is useful.

I don't know if this gives a useful quantity-per-point measure that the Allies can use (probably not due to the effect of ordnance size in the forula), but it's still interesting.

Edit Edit Edit: I just slapped myself in the head. Stupid. I'm running my tests in head-to-head mode. Duh.

Still, it ought to be directional, even if unseen.

Edit Again After Reading michaels' post: Yep, I'm running h-to-h with FOW off. Nothing to see here folks . . .
