Well, TT helped me out on the wide-open thing! He used a battalion of 8 inch guns to create a huge smoke screen between the center and southern hills. Wait! Thats not all! He used a battalion of 155mm to create smoke in the same area! Six batteries of massive smoke!

In the south, my 222 Scout Cars engaged and destroyed a truck, a British scout patrol, and the truck crew. They also engaged, and were fired upon by, M10 Wolverines.

One of my strike AC wounded an AA unit before being shot down. No chutes...:( They did recon for me, and spotted alot of M10 Wolverines, alot of M15 SPAA, and some Shermans too.

If those Wolverines stay put, I'm staying put! Their hit numbers are already beyond belief, let alone if he keeps them stationary!

Well, I layed three or four tank rounds into the extremely heavily armored Shermans at short range, to no effect. Anybody besides me see anything wrong with that sentence?

It's a huge. short-ranged melee! 20mm and .50 cal's are the weapons killing everything right now! We have to have 30 vehicles involved, maybe more! So much smoke and dust! :D

Goblin- A Goblin wonders where TT is?

It has indeed been a major melee.

The armored cars are thick as flies and the Panzers are an ocean of metal all around my islands of M10's.

Both Goblin and I have tons of AA and it is amazing to me how any of our A/C are getting through. My AirCobras are woefully inaccurate with their bombing runs. And, the 20MM cannons don't seem to have much effect on the panzers.

Maintaining disciplined order of attack is difficult with all the smoke and dust. But, with only a few hills and no cover at all; one has to provide cover.

Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant with this Thread Goblin. Are you sure you aren't supposed to be a Color Commentator for a major sports network? I am enyoying reading your descriptions of our battle almost as much as the battle:D

I will try harder to get into the swing of this.

We both keep feeding more metal into the grinder in the south and central map areas. My biggest success has been against infantry. British recon, Marine Raiders, and SAS teams are dieing by the platoon. One platoon ran into a section of 33B's, supported by PzIII's and PzIV CS tanks. No survivors.... :D

His M10's are tearing crap out of my armor! A red day!

I am surprised by how freakin' close the fight is in the middle of the desert! This desert stuff is almost fun!;)

Mangled some Marders in the North and drove some exhausted tank crews from the hill in the center. But, not much as reserves are moving up on both sides.

having a bit of problem with this forum dumping me back to the login before I can finish a reply.

One of Track Commanders was commenting on the somewhat peculiar behavior of some of the German Track Commanders. In particular he saw this one Commander in his turret driving like a madman through the burning hulks to the south with a really long stick that had what looked like a Great Big Hot Dog on the end of it. He was singing some kind of Drinking song and seemed to have a grat big stein in his other hand.

Even when my M10 commander put a round right past his face the guy just seemed to toast him with the stein and just kept on driving. :p Wierd.....

You see the strangest things in Combat.

Nine vehicles, PzIV's, PzIII's, and 2 SPAA FlaKveir's, attack one Wolverine. Three are now dead. 16-18 tank gun rounds, from sides and front at 1 to 2 hexes. 10 Bursts of quad 20mm fire from the side at 1-2 hexes. One alive Wolverine.

Why did the US army not use M10's exclusively in WWII? In the game they outmatch just about any tank you can name. I had moved my units perhaps four hexes. My hit % was a 16 or so. His was 40+.

That is how the battle is going. I have pretty much lost, and he has not even called reinforcements yet. I have, and they were stationary, they were tank destroyers, and they were obliterated by moving enemy tanks.

I did kill alot more infantry, and two 150mm HEAT rounds erased two Shermans.:D

I have been informed by my opponent that he has phoned for reinforcements! It doesn't look good....

I got some satisfaction this round, as I killed several half tracks, a Sherman (with a 150mm round, man I love that), and a Wolverine! I am ordering my men to fight to the death! Die Allied scum!

TimeTanker consolidates his hold on the center of the desert. And, begins the push to the west to clear the desert of marders and Stugs.

Getting a little greedy he loses 2 or 3 M10's in the south in the midst of a smoke and dust storm that rivals the oil fires of the Gulf War.....coming many years from now.

But, a full company of british armor arrives fresh from the docks. Only having a little trouble with "Tea Time Stops".

Fighting is intense betwen the various tank crews that are wandering in the smoke seeking to exact revenge against the crew that forced them to walk on the Hot Hot Sand...ooch! ouch!

Goodness, there is a line of Crusaders a mile long coming! I strafed them, and my aircraft took a 90mm round.....AND LIVED!! Then some weasel in a halftrack shot him down with a measley .30 cal...:(

This is where I believe I am in official trouble....:(

Goblin- A Goblin senses the end

I don't know if I was just lucky or what, but try this. (AmmoSgt would alwasy crush me with the M10. ) Machine gun the M10 with infantry the close assult with motorcycles I know it sounds like it wouldn't work but I was able to kill or disable M10 on a regular basics. Or even a greman recon squad this seems to work well. Even the lowely PzB-39 has a chance.

Actually I prefer playing the Germans( lets team up), so I have been playing the US and UK alot to try and figure them out better.:D :D
