If I drag my opponents PBEM file to the desktop icon for TOAW it does the above error message. If I start TOAW manually and use the buttons and / or menu to load the PBEM file it works perfectly. I'm not sure what the problemo is.

'That' sounds more like a windows problem....downloaded any new proggies lately? Might be time to get the diagnostics running, eh?

We've both got the same problem. Cannot open TOAW from the game. Crashes. Have to open TOAW and then search for the pbl file of the PBEM game. Always worked before.

You guys are playing each other????
If that's the case, sounds like a corupted file sent! I'd be deleting the works and trying over!
I'll admit, I've never seen that msg from ToaW befor, lol! Sounds like it would be worth checking to see if your doing it correctly/got the right version numbers etc etc

Can't be a corrupted file because it loads perfectly from within TOAW.

THIS might be something we can do cheaply and easily. But I'm pretty sure we're using the same 3.4.191 version. That's what Roger says he's using and I'm sure that's what I'm using. Maybe Windows 7 has some kind of file association that isn't quite right yet. Or something.

Hey you guys....I figured out that if you delete the movie files from your TOAW directory then there's no movies to show and TOAW works like a charm when you drag and drop a file on the TOAW icon on the desktop.
I'm posting a picture to show you which ones to move out of the directory or just delete them like I did.
EDIT: I just tried that technique again just now and it didn't work. So maybe this little trick above didn't work after all.

So um........hey you guys. I turned off the background sound and the sound effects. Then I closed TOAW so it would refresh it's configuration file. THEN I dragged a SAL file to the desktop icon and TOAW opened normally. Then I closed TOAW. Then I dragged a different SAL file to the desktop icon and it too opened normally. So maybe the problem is in some sound routine or routines? Anyway, it's working for me again. I would appreciate it if somebody else would try this to confirm that this is a workaround.
EDIT: I'm running the 3.4.191 alpha version.
