Alright, since some here know something about this kind of stuff I have a favor to ask....Theres a book and I cannot remember the name...It deals with a alien invasion of earth and somehow vampires end up helping humanity against the aliens...Anyone know the name or the author?   Would be greatly appreciated

Try "Old Man's War"  and sequels by John Scalzi. I really enjoyed those novels.

Try Allen Dean Foster's "The Damned" trilogy. So long as you can overlook the author's "WAR IS BAD" moralizing/lecturing, it's a very good read.

Yep, they were great reads. For anyone reading this thread, if BAEN books published it, then chances are that I have read the book, or at least looked it over.

If you are looking for a mankind-triumphant sort of novel, then this is not for you, otherwise try out John Varley "Red Thunder", "Red Lightning", and "Rolling Thunder"...

I loved the Lensmen series by E.E. Doc Smith. That series has got to be at least 60 years old though.

I think Webers' book is a new one..This one came out a while ago I believe...But since I read all Weber pretty much I'll look into it....Thanks

EDIT: read the amazon stuff on this..It sounds like it....Maybe I read a preview somewhere back in time and mixed it up and thought it was an oldie.....Lots of negatives on this one though, based on fan reviews..oh well....

Another great series is the Jason wander series by Robert Buettner, the first book is called Orphanage

Perhaps you mean 'The Madness Season" by C. S. Friedman, where a single surviving vampire decides the hegemonic succession of the conquerers?

I loved the Lensmen series by E.E. Doc Smith. That series has got to be at least 60 years old though. 

A timeless epic struggle of supposedly spotless good intentions versus absolutely depraved beings. About the third time I read the series (in my teens), I began to notice that the shining knights' armors were somewhat rust spotted. I refuse to poor mouth the series beyond that observation. There was an amusing post on rec.ats.sf.written newsgroup several years back which elaborated the crimes of the Kinnison family against sapient life, from the Eddorian perspective...

If you liked that, then you might like Dean Ing "Systemic Shock" and the sequels...

Another kid hero series is of course Orson Scott Card "Ender's Game".

The oldest kid hero novels in science fiction so far as I know were all written by Robert A. Heinlein. Of them, the one which I like best is "Have Space Suit Will Travel", closely followed by "Citizen of the Galaxy".

I never had any use for the peace-nick philosophy of "better slave than dead". The best use for folks who think that way is... well, no telling who is reading this, so I will shut up before I commit political incorrectness...
