A Note on Refit

Refit does not affect combat. A unit can be in refit mode 100% of the time and still function normally. What refit does is mark that unit as a priority for getting replacements and more importantly upgrades. The closer you are to a supplied rail hex the better. I for one keep all my SS units on refit.
Hope this helps

Richard is correct - BTW the "Refit" can also train unit up to some value (this is especially useful for all those newly formed inexperienced Soviet units)!

Well this certainly helps my German advance. I was getting in the habit of pulling damaged units to the rear where they could cozily "refit" when it wasn't needed.

Thanks! Excellent to mention as Refit implies Rest. Maybe a better choice of words out there somewhere...

Note that refit will still be more effective if the unit is in the rear, away from combat and near or on a working rail line. It will still help if they are up at the front though. Great tip, Kid.

In 1944, German units rested on the front line. [:D]

As the Soviets, you might want to ask your opponent if he's OK with artificial morale padding through the refit mode. Some testers disagree completely, but I consider it to be pretty gamey to put your army on refit just so they keep their morale near 50. I never have more than 2 or 3 armies on refit as the Soviets, or 24 to 36 divisions, mostly new ones that I want to get reasonably up to strength in a single turn.
As the Germans, I don't normally place my spearhead units on refit, but instead set units that are resting for a turn on refit. This maximizes the amount of replacements they receive due to being in better supply than after yet another deep strike.
