Phone check at Plimus

I am a happy customer for several years now. So I placed an order for the game. To my suprise I had to enter a phone number for buying. I did as I always do and entered an obviously bogus one (why would someone ask for a phone number to download a game?).

Now Plimus wanted to perform a phone check on me, so I gave them my real phone numbers and am now waiting for a phone call... for 11 hours. Even if they do call me eventually and I will be able to download the game I am very unhappy for several reasons:

1. I do not like giving away my phone number to companies. They simply don't need it to process orders.
2. I have spent several 1000s of $ for digital goods purchases and I have never encountered a phone check
3. I have already bought 5 games at Matrix Games, and when buying the sixt i need to be cheked, just because you have switched to another processing company?

Hi Naaram,

Entering a bogus phone number probably triggered the phone check. We did require phone numbers on our previous store, but DR was not as good as Plimus at checking them to see if they were bogus. The reason we need phone numbers is two-fold:

1. Some payment methods require them as part of the anti-fraud check.
2. For shipment, some shipping methods require them.

You should not be waiting 11 hours for a call back though. When I tested this before the store went live, I got a call back within a few minutes, it's an automated system. If you e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com with your order info, I will get your order cleared.

I should add that all order information is strictly secure and private and not used for anything except the order check.

Regards,

- Erik

You definitely should not have had to wait 11 hours for a phone call.  That's our fault.
