No Numbers or letters

All tooltip boxes come up empty, as well the prferences and select/load screens have empty boxes. I game, no CV appears on any units, nor to the tooltip pop up boxes populate. I have installed the latest direct X 9.0c and the 30 Nov update. It appears correctly in dxdiag and there are no errors on the notes page. Three fresh installs tried.
I can estimate where the "yes" "no" and saved game files are located in the dialogue boxes - the game responds to the "click" and executes the task (e.g. load a a saved game) - but not words, letters in the toopltip ot CV on counters.
Is there something simple I am overlooking? Game works suprebly on my desktop, but not on my XP laptop. (2 years old). Drivers updated.

Please post a DxDiag and please confirm the version you are running on your laptop.

DX Diag attached ( I hope). P.S. Love the game. I had WITE (boardgame) permanently set up playing for 4 years, then Later FITE for several more. This is easier and takes up less room!
Thanks.

2 of 3 PCs/laptops have this error. I think these two do not have the font or a file needed to display the writing in tooltip boxes etc. Is there a way to change this? I will try the beta patch/font change rooute as well, but I hoped for something simpler, like D/L the default (missing) font to these machines.
Update. No joy. Still no text/numbers in boxes or on units.

Drivers and Adapter Chipsets updated. Direct X updated. WiteFontConfig inserted. all fonts installed. Every combination of Windows display settings tried. All text boxes and unit counters remain blank. Out of ideas.

Is this only tooltips (hot text) which are missing? Default font of Arial, I don't think it should be missing - there would be no text in this case. Can you post some screenshots of your problem? thanks

I've got the same problem (see my post of 12/13). Drivers are the last available by Toshiba. I've tried to change the fonts as per v1.01 with no results. I enclose a screen. My DX Diag is on the post quoted above.
Cheers

What is the system font size you have? 96dpi?

Btw, can you press the bottom left button on main menu to get to the editor. Just to make sure you have(or not) problems with other fonts as well.

Fonts are normal at 96dpi. Editor and in game (enclosed) have the same problem. I have already tried to set up different fonts with the new config in 1.01 without any effect.

It must be a problem of intel integrated video card driver. There is quite many similar issues with this card. Some DX games are not even supporting this card.
In both dxdiags I see that version is Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4953 (English)
There are newer drivers available, you can try them. For HP notebook:
6.14.10.5268

No way - it's refused by the system!. The PC is a Toshiba. The driver is proprietary and it is the last available.

I know, I didn't find anything for Toshiba. The first poster has HP. Also I'm not sure it will help.

Thanks, I found that site at about the same time. The D/L is coorect but it hangs up on the igxpxs.32.vp file which cannot be copied ( for some reason - working in that), so the graphics ends up loxked at 400x600 and 6 bit until I roll back the update or disable/enable the adpater. Learning though!
EDIT:
The link from Helpless worked a treat and solved the issue. For those with a similar problem, the is to find the update designed for both your adapter/chipset as modified/unique for the platform, e.g. Intel in an HP. A straight chip update was not working.
Thanks!
