Editing Generic Data to Add AC type to Scenarios

I need some explanations about the Editor. The Instructions claim that

"Some basic data is generic and used by all scenarios. This data cannot be changed within a particular scenario, but must be changed for all scenarios. To change the generic data, when first entering the editor click on the Load Generic Data text. You can elect to save changes to any and all of these 5 files. Those files that are checked will be saved when you click on the Save Generic Data text. Any changes to these files will impact all scenarios."

OK, so I go into the Generic editor and add some factories and resources and change the start data for some aircraft and change aircraft types in one or two squadrons. Then I save the changes, with all of the data types checked. Then when I open the Scenario editor to see my changes reflected in the 1941-45 campaign and I find that none of the changes have 'taken.' Why? The instructions clearly state "Any changes to these files will impact all scenarios." Do I have to make the changes in the scenario as well, in spite of the instructions? If so, what is the point of editing the generic data?

And now I am even more confused. I re-opened and checked the Generic data and the only one of my changes that saved was the new, earlier start date for ME-262As. The number in the pool did not save. The new factory and resources changes for several cities did not save. and the new aircraft for the I/Jg53 did not save. I am baffled as I now find that I am not even competent to save data.

I feel Your pain![:@]

Ok, here is what sleepless nights have tought me about editor, seems to be like this:

Only those stats that do not get modified by game while playing gets changed for all the scens.
That is to say that weapon, ground and aircraft element, leaders and TOE template are the ones that affect all.
Others , like actual unit OOB and pool info etc, have to be edited for each scenario separatedly since they change according to the
situation within the gameplay.
Sorry if this seems a little bit convulted, thats the editor for you[:D].

Some aspects of generic and scenario data are described in the "Building the Maus" thread.

As states short guide generic data files (tab names) are shown on the main screen when GD is loaded:
Leaders
TOE(OB)
Aircraft
Ground element
Devices

Other type of data is not generic and stored in scenario file:
Units
Air groups
Locations(cities)

So when you say you added factories and resources, they go to the scenario data (Location/City database) and not saved to the checked files when you work with Generic Data. The right way to do is to add your devices/aircraft/ground element, save generic data and start adding factories to the scenario.
