Soviet Baltic Fleet

As I wade through the manual I have seen nothing mentioning the Soviet Fleet. It was very useful in providing arty support for the defenders of Leningrad. At least until Hans Rudel showed up with his stuka squadron and started attacking the fleet. So how is this source of offshore arty treated in this game? Can you combine it and land based arty to shell a German unit in a bombard only attack as it was in WIR? I haven't run across anything in the manual yet as to bombard only attacks, are they still viable in this edition of the game?

The development team is aware of that from the beginning and there is still no firm decision on how to try to implement that...

Manual says arty attacks can span two hexes. At the risk of being accused of stating the obvious I take it that only applies to the heavy artillery units and doesn't include medium arty strength units?

This seems to be another issue, aside from rail repair and support units, that confuses people: Soviet on-map artillery units have a 2 hex range, not artillery support units.

I wasn't referring to support units. Just the actually combat units themselves. Hex is ten miles I don't see what would be classed as medium arty units able to shoot 11 miles.

It's also an abstraction in a way, as having those units in the same hex as combat units is problematic from the stacking limit perspective. Some 122mm and 152mm guns would be able to fire "across" a hex. Rocket units would obviously not be able to cover that distance, so for those it's an abstraction.

So if you want to proceed with a deliberate attack how do you get the arty units two hexes away to participate? Is it hold shift and then left click the arty units two hexes away that you think can have the range to participate?

Could someone please give me an answer to my question above?
Thanks in advance!

No need to click, just mouse over units whit holding shift.
