Extractors on non-mines

I know there was a thread about this, but the forums search function doesn't work for me, and I can't find it looking myself

Did we ever establish if placing extractors onto space-ports (or normal star-bases) allowed for further extraction of a planets resources on top of the colony? (ie. did they still work, or are they coded to only work on mining stations)

I ask because I'm got a good desert planet, that I want to colonize, but due to it containing "The Spice" I want to have it extracting and moving as fast as possible, and I sure colonies still extract slower than a well design mining station
I also don't want to risk having a complex mining station and the AI simply landing a colony ship there
Hence the desire to colonize it myself

I'm pretty sure you can put whatever you want on any station. You can have a Starport with uber defenses, research, and extraction if you want. Just bear in mine, that regardless of what you build there, the AI can just snake the planet out from under you. Getting that colony there should be rushed if at all possible.

Extractors are useless on colonies.  Erik said it I think a while ago.

You are correct Lonck.

In addition to what has been said: you can have extractors on any kind of starbase (Resort and Research bases come to mind), and they do their work over *unpopulated* planets.

Abit of a shame, because colony extraction rates are slower than stations IIRC
We may need a mining facility then ;) lol
