All the issues? There are some "issues" but ofcourse it is worth starting a campaign game.... some people already fought the way to Berlin with the russians, and some are pretty far in 1943 campaigns as the axis

The issues with this game are minor tweeks at best. They are "we" die hards trying to make the game perfect in our eyes. Each with our own vision of history. I write history books; the only thing ahistoric is history itself! I would start a game; what do you have to lose? So a patch comes along, so what? That is a good thing, that does not make your game a waste of time! j

Get rolling. I've just started my third campaign, and it's been a real nailbiter so far. It's not (yet) the perfect game, but in my view, it's Mr Grigsby's best ever, and I say that as a long time AE player.

This is not entirely true. There exists a bug with TR planes. I think there's a post about it already. You don't have the ability to use all your planes. For axis this can be an issue as you might not be able to fly in all the supplies you need to units that get too far away or cut off. Also, the leaders dying to frequent is an issue which should be patched soon?

So nothing too bad to stop a campaign, just so you know...

You must also understand that there is alot of imput from people on the game.....not everyone agrees on everything within the game. There is alot of Shade tree historians feeding their thoughts and desires on the game for change. Its a excellent game with few problems and about as historical as your going to find today.[;)]

There are issues here and there, some already corrected in current test versions. You'll benefit from the changes when patches come out, except for the data changes which are usually pretty minor at this point. Although we expect the game to get even better over time, I wouldn't wait to start a GC.

Thanks all - sometimes difficult to know with all the stuff flying around .. Just one thing with the issue that Kirk raises ... I have noticed this myself - but not only with transport planes - I have started a couple of games where for some inexplicable reason I am unable to select KG 77 in AGN for airfiled bombing missions - I presumed it was the same high number bug that affected the transport planes ? Anyhow - I have noticed it several times now and cant find a reason for them not being selectable - I eliminated all the usual things - one thing though - you can make them fly by making sure the staging base is the one they are based at - then they appear in the list - they just dont appear if the staging base selected is not their own ... Annoying as you have to fly your fighters back into east prussia to give them an escort.

It's not gamey. Well at least in my eyes. It's necessary for Russia to survive 1941 and the Germans to survive winter. Makes for a challenging game.

Yes, I believe this bug with planes w/miles left not displayed in a list of available aircraft to fly missions applies to all types.

I think that issue is way overblown. It's not a game breaker as far as I can tell.

I think that not starting a campaign game is wrong - I have played one through so far (as Axis on Normal), and the one bug I saw was minor and not game breaking. The mountains out of molehills here sometimes seem to require one to done climbing gear and oxygen just to make it through the air recon phase it seems, but that is the nature of so many online boards.

While there will always be nits to pick, I have not seen any errors so horrible that I have wanted to not play.  Hell, two days from my 45th birthday and I am waking up at 5am before work to try and get a turn in...that should tell you something, someone like me needs their beauty sleep.

Best way to learn the game is play it. Even if it has a few minor insects.

I have to agree, I will probably start the grand campaign a few times before I feel that I know the game sufficiently to fully enjoy it.

I started a modified campaign in April 1942 as the Russians and the Axis AI (even on normal) can punish audacity pretty throughly.

I haven't noticed anything problematic in terms of game mechanics.

"gamey" issues are best handled with house rules and/or by playing with like minded players.

Ala in WITP i only play with people who will not land units outside a base hex. Super gamey to me and it's a personal decision. Same with checkerboard in wite.

That's why I typed 'allegedly' gamey. [:)] I see the early war German formations, with their superior morale and commanders, building such a line which presupposes reserves of independence and experience. And they sort of did in the Winter of 41-42. I do have doubts about the Soviets pulling this off. I suppose it depends on how one looks at it, for example, taking into to account spatial abstractions.
