Trying to create shortcut (latest beta patch)

Trying to create a shortcut to the game in order to run it in non-windowed mode.
The shortcut returns the Error Message:
Fatal Error Code#801. There is an error with your game's serial number as currently configured. Please contact
www.matrixgames.com/helpdesk for support.
Game was purchased yesterday as DD and hardcopy to be delivered. Serial number is exactly as given in receipt. No problems at all when running in windowed mode, whether from game .exe itself or from game menu.
Scratching head vigorously.
(If any permission is required to doublecheck I own a legitimate copy of the game, consider this granted in writing here.)
OS is Win 7 64-bit.

The game is not designed to be used in non-windowed mode. You can expand the window to more or less fill your screen.
Not sure why you are getting that message, but I've seen other cases of people getting error codes and they seem to get around it by running the game as an administrator (or something like that).

We discovered this during BETA - this is due to UAC in both Windows 7 and Vista (and game protection itself)!
What is important to notice is that you need to RESTART your PC after WitE install in order to avoid the "Fatal Error Code#801".
BTW, the workaround is to run the EXE using "Run as administrator"!
Also please note that BETA patches might cause this behavior as well - the regular patch always fixes that...

Thanks Joel and Leo.
Will get up to speed with manual then while waiting on full patch. It's obviously not a big issue, but not a huge fan of playing games in windowed mode as I like to maximise use of screen so I'll wait on full patch and see if I can get away with messing about with things then
edit: Just to confirm, getting this message when account on PC is admin account, game is in default directory and even when run as admin is used. UAC makes me sad
