Or else, the whole Pacific War would have been lost! It's mid 1943 and I just now have taken back Hawaii(I know, I know, I should not have lost it in the first place! [:(] ) and am currently fighting off the Japanese trying to take back Midway. I kinda wish the Nips would really try to take it back instead of a couple of transports at a time. Hawaii seesawed like Guadacanal because they sent in everything but the kitchen sink and I know I havent sunk that many carriers.

After I feel Miday is secure I'm thinking about heading South and liberating the islands there and heading for Australia. My troops and sailors haven't had female companionship for some time! I heard the ale there is really good too!

I'm glad I built up an air force in California because the Nips were bombing the West coast at will for a while because I was rebuilding my fleet.

There is one thing I do not understand though. I know what infantry and armor are and what they do but what is mechanized units? I mean for game play. I've ordered some but I don't know what to use them for.

The beer is good (very few of us actually drink ale - lager is more usual) but before disembarking your troopies looking for cooze, read the history of The Battle of Brisbane and save yourself some grief.

That was a really good read! All that happened because an MP did not give a private enough time to produce a pass.

I love this quote! "But after that, it sort of settled down and you go into a pub and an Aussie would come and up and slap me on the back. "Oh, wasn't that a good ruckus we had the other night? And have a beer on me."

Now go back to 1915, Egypt and the Battle of the Wazzir (Spellings may vary - sometimes Wazza, sometimes Wazzyr)

What are you learning about Australians?

Not too much information on that one. From what I was able to find out, some Aussies about to leave Egypt for the front took revenge on brothels? There's a song too. If you could clarify I'd be grateful. By the way, you wouldn't happen to know exactly what mechanized units are used for in Storm over the Pacific would you?

Mechanized units, similar to motorized infantry, but with more armor. Like armored half-tracks, self-propelled artillery. Fast-moving infantry with some good fire-power. Use them where you need both speed and force, but can't afford an armored unit.

You basically got all the details known right there. It was a very different era and there was an amazingly tight conspiracy of silence for decades about the incident.

Basically I included it as illustration that we're pretty friendly unless we think we're being stood over or ripped off - then all bets are off.

Thanks for the history lesson Tom. I love this kind of stuff!
