As an English teacher I must say I was touched by the profound depth and sensitivity of AndyGabriel's poem. The opening words "Print preview" speak to the social isolation felt by spambots seeking to co-exist with real people in a virtual environment. Their message is rejected, is considered unworthy of consideration, something less than real, just as a print preview is less than the real document. In the last stanza note how the spambot asks if you can feel his world, the world of the spambot, not real, but nevertheless almost sentient. Consider the hostility the lonely spambot encounters. This is a cry for understanding, a machine on the cusp of humanity. Even as we reject his message, we are left wondering if he will run free like the panther he aspires to be.

You realize of course that Saddam Hussein and many megalomaniacal dictators also showed a knack for sentimentalist poetry don't you? Don't let him fool you with that sensitive "I like you better lightly" crap.

Behind that facade of alienated, and vulnerable bot, liminal, hurting inside, emotionally vacant and in need of human key caress (or at least key press) there is actually a murderous, genocidal Skynet bot dreaming to be plugged in to the NORAD servers. In a politically correct manner I'd say that discriminating spammers is a blatant infringement of human rights. So we should take affirmative action by clicking on links and purchasing their goods, to ensure that this aggrieved minority get equated with autochthonous visitors.
