Hi, I'm about to buy Distant Worlds (and it's expansion) and I just wanted to ask if I should get the boxed version or the digital download. Is the boxed version worth the extra 10 dollars? Thanks in advance

There is no physical copy of the manual so unless you want the CD and case there is no advantage unless you can't burm a copy of the installation program for your own achives.

welcome to the forum and community
by the time you get hit by this awesome game you would want to have bought it as expensive as possible...not a big impact on our pockets but just to help Elliot continue to develop the game
i would welcome a new expansion solely for this reason [&o] - hmm, who am i kidding, i mainly want a new expansion [:D]

I bought the boxed versions as well. I like to have my big game collection visible when possible, and supporting CodeForce doesn't feel bad either.

Like I've said before, the only advantage to getting the box is having the pretty box and your serial number is printed on the CD itself, meaning you don't have hunt it down if you ever have to reinstall for any reason.

That and Matrix seems to have started printing your name on your CD...its your own personal copy. [:D]

Which is why I have it stored in my emails and in it's own little text file on my PC ;) lol
But then tbh, all my cd-keys are stored in text files on my PC, just alot quicker to get then haha

i found that matrix's idea of storing these serial numbers in the members area (for registered games) is even better, it helps me avoid the clutter on my drive

Well, I'm the type of gamer with multiple drives
1. Normal Programs and OS
2. Games, PageFile and Adobe Programs, plus programs that aren't installed but run from a single file
3. Various files inc. backups of settings, ebooks, pictures, drivers, program setup files, game patches, mods, manuals, cd-keys, excel sheets I've built to calculate things for games

And then you have the 3 drives on my server...

So, yea, clutter doesn't bother me lol

I did the digital download. Just burn your exe to a disk and you will be fine.
