playing my first ever campaign game...
but is there a way to find out what hex the TF is in...
or do I have to scan the entire ocean...
figure there has to be a way

Which game?  This is the general section.

My guess is that he is talking about WITP or WITP:AE.

Al... if you are talking about either of these games (or UV, or WPO)...

If you are looking for a specific ship, bring up the active ships list (button on the top bar), find the ship's name and then click on the TF# on the far right of the screen. The screen will now shift to the TF on the map.

If you are looking at the TF list, then click on the TF location on the far right of that screen and you will be shown the TF's location on the map.

HINT: any text in yellow is a clickable button.
