Installation

When I try to install the Classic set (the first of the four) setup just disappears. I have successfully installed Harpoon Ultimate and Harpoon 3.

What is causing the install of Classic to disappear when i click the "next" button?

Are you giving it a good long while? The installer is very large with the digital artwork and if your virus scanner is getting in the way it may take 15 minutes or more for the file to be scanned and release control back to the operating system to allow the installer to run.

Another thing you can try when at that point is navigating to C:\Matrix Games\... and running the HUCE installer from there (which will probably also lead to the long pause).

Please let us know how you fare.

Tony, gave it a couple of hours. Nothing.

c:\matrix games is empty (it's a dos partition)
d:\matrix games (my XP system partition) contain three folders, each containing the executables for the 3 Harpoons i've installed

You gave good clues there.

The HUCE installer is > 2048MB and the largest file size you can have on a FAT partition is 2048ish MB so that is probably the issue.

Please contact erikr@matrixgames.com and refer him to your problem (and this thread). If you don't hear back from him in what you consider a reasonable number of days, holler back and we'll figure something out.

Hello there, I'm experiencing the same problem: I can install all the other Harpoon games, just not HUCE.

Same deal: installer opens, accepts serial number, select HUCE (either together or by itself), and the installer crashes.

I'm running a Windows 7 VM Ware partition off of an iMac. My partition is set to NTFS, so it's not a FAT issue. I've tried it with my anti-virus off (Windows Defender) and that changes nothing.

I've seen multiple questions about this very issue in the threads here, but no resolutions... I'm guessing the other folks solved this problem, so I'd appreciate knowing how *I* can.

Thanks!

Never mind-- I figured it out, at least on my machine.

The secret was to run the installer via Win7 but with the installer files located on my Mac partition (accessible via VM Ware) instead of on my Win7 C: drive. It still installed to my Win7 C: drive, as desired. For some reason, it worked that way, no issues.

Thank you for posting back Davekhps.  I'd venture a wild guess that there wasn't enough space on your virtual C: drive (a few GB for the installer, a few more GB for the decompressed installers, and a few GB for the actual installs).
