Does the tern railhead mean the farthest point you have viable railway? So in the north I'm 90 miles from Pskov, is that my railhead? (I'm still new to the game)

The rail heads are those dots on the rail lines.

So the railhead must be in a town with a viable railway?

Yes I believe so. Im sort of new too but thats the way I understand it. Towns and those dots are your railheads.

Look at the picture on p266 of the ebook, the picture shows exactly what a railhead is.

A railhead is the last full green railway line that is repaired nearest to your units.

It has nothing to do with towns/cities.

little black dots are towns

You can click on them and they will highlight in the upper rh corner of the screen.

You can also see on the map key in the upper LH corner of the map.

I think the Soviets do get some supplies out of towns, I seem to recall something like this from the manual, but am not really sure about it.

But as has been said, railheads are the last hex containing a working rail to get supplies to your units.

Personally in my AAR I sometimes use railhead for the last hex that is manually repaired, but it will only turn into a real railhead on the next turn (maybe during the logistics phase - will have to read up on the sequence of play again).
