Artillery attachments, how can I maximize usage?

Hello everyone.

Quick question.

I am preparing for a direct assault on leningrad docks and ports, as well as the city itself.

I have collected every large piece of artillery i could find and they have all been moved to AGN and OKH.

How do I use them?

What I mean is, can i just bring OKH and AGN next to the battle and they fire?

Do I have to put them into the corpse HQ of the attacking infantry units?

I have about 50 heavy guns rockets and mortars attachments ready to go(all 210mm +)

If I do place them in a corpse HQ, what sort of leader should I have in there ?

How many CU is too many in a corpse?

Sorry about all these questions but I am finding a hard time getting the answers.

You should put the supporting arty in the HQs that command your infantry and/or panzer divisions.  They will not automatically join the battle but instead there will be some dice rolls n' such.

I believe the initiative rating of the HQ(s) leader will adjust the chance of the arty joining, along with the number of them you have ( the more combat support units in an HQ the less chance of winning a dice roll, for the test of each individual unit ).

Sorry, I meant the more support units in a hq the less likely they are to attack part.

I read every piece about support, but it never discussed the mechanics of the combat.

Maybe I missed it.

Thanks
