Choosing a good difficulty level

I have played a Grand Campaign on normal level as the Soviets from 42 onwards.

After getting my butt kicked in 42 I eventually ground down the Axis.

Now the games decended into

Blow hole with infantry.

Exploit with armour & encircle.

Destroy

Rinse & Repeat

So I now think the game is effectively over.

When the next beta patch comes out I will tackle the AI in the 41 Campaign

I notice a couple of AAR's versus the AI which the German's won decisively on normal.

So I guess normal difficulty is too easy.

What level of difficulty should I choose?

I remember a beta tester saying he only tested on challenging level.

Before anyone says ''GO GET A PBEM''!

I can't as I already have a War in the Pacific PBEM which eats one hour a day from me.

I have read the e manual on difficulty levels, and realize the bonuses I could give the AI.

I also remember Red Markus??? played the AI on Impossible with an AAR but I can't remember the AAR.

So which difficulty level should I choose after 100+ hours play?

For the Soviets, you have to consider each difficulty level as being one level easier, because of differences in performance between defensive and offensive AIs.

That is, playing Soviets against Normal Axis is equivalent to playing Axis against Easy Soviets.

That means that you need to set the Axis' level to at least Challenging to get the baseline level of challenge, with Hard being your standard after picking up experience with the game.

I was on normal setting vs Axis computer and barely got a minor victory before the campaign ended; now playing 1 level harder, but with less mistakes and sloppiness maybe I can win by 1944.

How not to Juan Martin Hernandez!I'm supporting Paris while it was on my choice goes a bit more for players from the capital but afut say what is El Mago deserves its nickname ... Otherwise, I find Kelleher impressive since the start of the season ...
