Hi Marshall
can you give everyone an update on how things are going with 1.08.05?

DB

1.08.05 is complete and awaiting testing results.
I am adding no other changes to this version so that we can quickly release it. This would give most players the power to fix games themselves!

Are you going to add a mechanism that enables Kingdoms to add constituent parts after formation? For example, for the Ottoman Empire to add Algeria after creation?

Thanks

Are you talking of an annexation or actual conquering?

Well, say I already have the Ottoman Empire established and I thereafter conquer Algeria. It would make sense that upon making Algeria a FS I'd have the option to make it (Algeria, in this case )part of the OE. One can not do this now.

I imagine that the same dynamic applies to the Conf of the Rhine as well.

The rules are pretty vague on this and seemingly go from New Political Combo to New Political Combo. For instance, the rules state that if the owner of Poland gains control of a "P" province than that owner MAY add that province to Poland (doesn't say he has to). The rules then go on to say that any time the owner of the Ottoman Empire gains control of a territory that could be part of the Ottoman Empire the owner MUST add it to the Ottoman Empire in the next New Pol Combo phase.

This is either vague or varying for the rest of the New Poli Combo's per section 11.xxx in EiA rulebook.

I totally remember having this exact conversation (and making this almost exact post) before..... things never change around here.

Actaully things have changed, but only slowly. The to-do list remains, however, long and the resources are thin (i.e. one part time programmer). For Neverman, figure out what you think the priorities are, and make your pitch. You may or may not get anywhere with it in the short term.

Doing the math, working on this when he can, Marshall can fix about 5 simple bugs per week, or one complex issue every few weeks (usually because changing the complex stuff leads to unintended consequences, and there are not enough volunteer testers to catch these things). It takes a couple of months to add a new feature.

Anything that touches the main database seems to be complex. New political combinations likely fall into that category, so end up in the "is this worth the effort at this stage?" category. Marshall would likely say he would do it differently if he were to start over, but until he does, we're waiting for the next patch.

some good points DB. I simply put this out there to get it on the invigorated "to do" list. No way to know if it is a simple fix or a complex fix, but I'd like to ask Marshall, once more, to get it done. For later campaigns it does make a difference. BTW - so you don't just think I am hectoring -- this has been posted to MANTIS since June 13, 2008 and I have asked for updates every 6 months or a year since then to no word. See issue 99.

Well Mardonius, maybe you are right and it is time to look at this. There are a couple of relatively urgent itms to fix, but after that, things like new political combinations might be coming close to the top of the list. I guess it depends on how well Marshall is doing with the urgent bugs and classic scenario.

I certainly remember but it's just not high on the P1 list right now. The simul stuff and real-time game fixes have really got me hammered for now. I've not forgotten this and am willing to take a look but it will have to wait for now. I'm not trying to minimize this issue because each issue has its own set of bullets (and champions ;-)) as to why this should be done but I have to compile the final P1 list and alot time accordingly! It's a toughy!
