Seth vs. Viking2

My Finns delay a Soviet advance in 8/36. Map is a typical medium summer map, with a wide N-S valley between our start lines. Not very much cover for the Soviets to advance through. At the beginning, I can see that the Bolshevist invaders have chosen to advance all along the line. My trusty 76mm IG strikes a blow for Finland (and no doubt for the Czar who paid for it), and an FAI is no more. I believe the main thrust may come in the South, where there was a furious bombardment.

On this spot in 1936, nothing happened.

Not sure my opponent is interested in writing a DAR, but nothing much happens anyway. I kill three men, he one.

Just figured out we had a new place to talk, anyway Killed a Machine gun on the top of the Hill trying to close the gap, my recon isn't up to the task so far.

Recon may not do well, but MG's seem to be automatic death rays. At 20+ hexes, his are killing everything. Any squad that reveals itself is annihilated. This is at at some total BS 3% chance. 3% must represent the chance for each man to survive or something. Anyway, the Soviets seem hardly to have moved, so I kill one man from two scout teams, and I'm done.

Moving foward, faster than you know lots of infantry on the hill I put some random fire in the hill.
There was some question about the AA fire against Infantry, that 3%, has to be factored with number of gun and rate of fire there was some info on it but It can't remember where.
Still the hits I'm getting with the AA is very very high, the Jap's have a 25mm triple AA gun it is absolutly murder on infantry.

This turn I face the grim reality. There is no way I can win. However, I do kill two Tachankas, and harrass some cavalry. We'll see if I can stop this from being a laugher. Everyone who is spotted runs away this turn to avoid automatic death the next. I am guaranteed to lose 2-3 units next turn.

Pored more fire into the Infantry with so-so kills did manage to capture more victory Hexs some in the rear and a group in the south, I don't expect to hold them though:(

Seth man where are you, it was just getting good, those armored cars of yours with the 13mm should be plenty dangerous, I hope you don't have to many:)

Sorry.
There was terrible rain here, and the internet went down. The back porch flooded, too. Anyway, this turn I sent away for a three part correspence course. "How to Kill Things Just Like the GAZ-AAA Does" Anyway, my troops are literate intelligentsia, and they proved to be a quick study. My reinforcing Landsverk 182 skids to a halt near the FAI that it drove past last turn (doh!), and backtracks to kill it and it's buddy. The IG's on my central hill take out an FAI, a T-28, and two Tachankas. The infantry mostly stay pinned, but I do get an FO. The engineer squad kills another Tachanka. This kept making the game crash, but I finally got it to stop. Anyhow, I am still not safe. He has a lot of troops, and the dreaded GAZ-AAA's are all operational.

So, on his turn he whacks my only armor, and shoots up a rifle sqd. On my turn, the crew of the Landsverk shoot it out with Cossacks in the rear. On my northern hill, I drive off two Cossack units, but I am in real trouble. Lots of people are still pinned, and I fear the Tachanka/Gaz-AAA attack. My central hill defends itself well. I kill a scout team, a cossack unit, and the crew of a T-28. My MGs are still basically useless, but the FGs were a good buy.

You won't need one. On the northern hill, it's Kuusteriki's last stand, as Cossack hordes flood the place. We drive them off, but lose another squad. The central hill kills a Tachanka, and sprays their goddamn useless MGs around.

You may get to keep them. This turn, 20 MG shots kill one man. All at over 20% to hit. AAAAAAAAAAGGHAGHGHGHGHGHHGHGG! Anyway, I immobilize an FAI, and in the North my attempt to stay on the hill is rebuffed with light casualties, but my troops are total chickens.

The lameasses on the northern hill live another turn, only because they run or can't see anything. My useless snipers fail to do anything, my engineers are pinned, and I get a few MG kills. Weee! I hate my stupid troops. I wish I could reach into the screen and squash them with my thumb.
