Error message when trying to start game?

I am new to this game and somewhat inexperienced in PC games in general over past 10-15 years. Before that I was fairly adept at the DOS based games ans early windows based games, but after that got into console based games and lost interest as games where either too arcade themed or just not very good IMO. I have kinda got the bug over last year or so, but I am very out of touch technically speaking to say the least. My system specs are as followed(to the best of my knowledge): Windows Vista Home Edition Premium(upgrade service pack 2), AMD Turiun Dual Core RM-70(2.0 Ghz), 3.0 GB Ram, 32 bit operating Sys. and Nvidia Ge Force 8200M G Video display card.
The Close Combat program downloaded w/o problem and installed as well w/o any problems as well. but when I go to run it I continue to get error message that says "The application directory is read-only. Please change the attributes before running Close Combat"
Sounds simple enough, I guess, but I have no idea where or what to do. If someone knows what this means, please try and walk me through it step by step if you can as I said previously my technical knowledge is very limited at this point, so I need it explained in the simplest terms as possible. I am sorry if that is a lot to ask and i understand if it is too much to ask, but I have tried what Matrix suggested on their website, but IMO going through FAQ is not my idea of good customer service, and there is no phone number to actually speak to someone, no big surprise, LOL! I did email them, but no response yet. So any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Bill
