i dont want annoy people with this topic so please dont flame me.
the main point against playing online seems to be that people cant play 5 -6 hours game at one time. fair enough, but the thought just occured to me.
why dont people SAVE games when they have to stop for some reason (WW3, house on fire, partners moaning etc).
in a 2 hour gaming session 10 - 15 turns can be done where as PBEM this could take weeks.
has anyone tryed saving games and how reliable is it?
opinions

cheers

I personally have had problems with restarting the saved games. Thats not why I have gone to PBEM lately though. Its not the 5 or 6 hours at a time that is the killer for me. It's being locked at the computer to op fire/see whats going on, while my 3 year old and 6 month old are attempting to burn down the house/eat a bug.

I played a few times with Mogami, and alot with my local friends, but it is 'PAUSE' then start to play. Crap! 'Pause'. Ok, no, wait, 'PAUSE'. On and on...

No one is gonna jump you for a legit question!

I play on-line for 3-5 hours every weekend....but I only play my friend Don that I grew up with and have been playing wargames with for over 25 years.. because we know each other so well we have no probs with on-line play and I think it is the best way to play!

The only prob we have run into is the save..we save after all movement before we assign arty...but when we save and the other player saves we are promped to save again! If we do the game gets screwed up and will not re-load...so dont do the 2nd save! just hit the esc key and all will be fine and your game will be saved...

We have played many 60 turn scenarios that has taked months to play and it is well worth it!

M4 Jess~says do it!
