Ship conversion deadline?

DD Wakatake class may be converted to APD.
But the conversion field at the lower right corner of the ship information screen disappered on february 1, 1943.　
Ship class A may be converted to class B.
C is upgrade version of class B.
Is there a rule that after C is available, A can’t be converted to not only C but also B?

DD Wakatake upgrades in February 1943, and the upgraded class has no options for conversions. If you wished to keep the possibility of convert her, you shouldn't have let her upgrade.

Even if you don't do an upgrade you can still lose the option to do a conversion if too much time passes. I had a number of older american DD's in the DEI at the start of the war that had the option of converting to DE's or APD's, or just their normal upgrade path. I was using my surface forces heavily in that area during the early part of the war so I never converted those DD's to APD's, but I also figured doing the upgrades might lock out the conversions so I didn't do the upgrades either. However a few years later when I went to convert those DD's they had lost the option. It seems they passed some time limit or other.
@somali. I don't know of a way to tell if or when a conversion is lost as an option. I would suggest making the time to do them when they become available if you really want them.

Not upgareded DD Wakatakes lost their option of conversion to APD.
Conversion option was shown at ship information screen till January 31, 1943,
I think when upgrade version of converted APD is available, Wakatake lost their option of conversion.

This is true..that is more a case of knowing what I am doing wrong but being unable to change.
