Hi,

I'm considering buying this game and I've seen some reviews that say not all of the scenarios are able to be played against the AI. Is this true? If so, could someone give me an approximate idea of how many of the scenarios that ship with the game can be played as a solitaire game?

My rough ballpark figure, just off the top of my head......maybe 90% of them have an AI to play against.  One that doesn't have an AI to play against is Fire in the East but there's a substitute scenario for that situation called Directive 21 and there's more scenario's coming out all the time that have an AI.  There's probably 1,000 scenario's for this game already.  I did say probably.

Head-to-head solitaire? Although I prefer playing against the AI, when necessary (because the scenario has no PO) I will play H2H solitaire and still enjoy doing so.

Yup. A 50-year-old board war gaming habit that's hard to break. [:)]

It's not my preference, but I'll do it if I have to, or if I want to play a non-PO scenario badly enough. (Sorry, don't do PBEM. I have my own good reasons. 'Nuf said.)

I've tried doing something similar having two laptops on home LAN playing different sides France and Germany in Hearts of Iron. Don't know why I didn't think of it for TOAW.

Thanks for all of the responses. This was just what I was looking for. It sounds like there's lots of options to play this game against the AI or even in hotseat mode. I reallly appreciate the quick answers. It seems like this game has a very active community of supporters.

I bought TOAW3 over the weekend and have my first question. When you move the cursor over the edge of the main map screen it scrolls the map. Is there anyway to slow down this scrolling? I've looked through the manual and can't seem to find anything related to this. Thanks

I've got the same problem and I've never found anything that would slow it down.  I've learned to just poke the cursor into the first 10 pixels of the edge of the map border and dart the cursor out of place so that I jerk my way to where I want to go.  It's a pain but what can you do?

If you guys only want to scroll a little bit, try left clicking on the map. You can also use the arrow keys to move the map a tiny bit.

Thanks. My problem isn't so much when I want to scroll the map window it's when I'm moving the cursor outside of the window to access the menu or control buttons and the map window scrolls when I don't want it to. I guess I'm just going to have to control the mouse the same way Larry described.
