I am a newbie still learning this game, have a couple quick questions, on what to do with some units:

1. Is there any use to the Wirraway? I haven't even tried to dogfight with Zeros, because it looks like they would be dead meat. I haven't played very far, will those units eventually be upgraded to something better?

2. Is there any use to PG's that don't have ASW capability? PG's with ASW capability I've been using to escort low-value rear-area convoys. The only use I can come up with for the Jap PG's is sacrificial scout ship. Any suggestions?

The Wirraway is just about useless (for CAP purposes) but in the beginning you don't have much else to work with. Once you can let the P38s & F4s take over (along with the P40s) you can use it against shipping - barges tend to be ripped up by massed Wirraway strikes late 1942 into 1943.

PGs get used for routine supply convoys (for AA purposes) and can also be used as souts (though they tend to die really, really quick). The AI seems to use them to escort barges.

Otherwise, I don't know what else to use them for.

I have recently been setting Wirraways to LR CAP and basing a squadron in Cairns. Unescorted bombers sometimes show up there.
