Mandrake-san vs Fabertong: Dueling pistols at 250nm

I signed up for the AE tournament 2nd bracket and drew Fabertong, whom I am already competing against in our 2 v 2 game. [:)]
As this short-lived AAR will discuss my plan for the IJN he should not read this unless he wants to live with perpetual guilt (philosophical concept of original sin excepted). We probably won't run our first turns for 2 days or so but I am waiting for the washer repair guy to show up as I am out of underwear and Stalker Girl has put an absolute limit on me of two days on reusing underwear so the washer has to be repaired today so I am stuck here.
Now, I know what you are thinking, "Mandrake-san, why don't you just go buy some new underwear?"
This is a very good question but we are also out of towels and do you realize how many wet wipes it takes to do a proper air-bath? Plus, I would rather do this, so quit busting my chops, OK?

Can you not just turn them inside out? You'd be good for another 48 hours a pair I reckon.

What if I get in a traffic accident?

OK...the repairman came and went. Nice little Russian guy, Ivan (really, I'm not making it up). I now know the "E-13" error on the Bosch washer means "failure to drain". All that was needed was to unplug the beast, open the little access door at lower right and inspect the drain line trap/filter. You know those socks that disappear? We found one. The drain trap is engineered to have easy access. Ivan said, "Eet is weary easy on Bosch. Those Germans, you know." [:D]
I was tempted to see what he thought about the Panther vs. the T-34 but he was in a hurry.
Cost me $80. Could have done it myself if I weren't such an indolent slug.

Well, with fuel prices rising like they are I shouldn't imagine that's going to be a problem for much longer. Take the risk I say!

If you had more time you could have asked him about the Sherman vs the Tiger.

The good news is the washer is fixed so I won't need to go commando OR have striped underwear. [:)]
The bad news is I think I have a new bulls-eye on my forehead with the HOA. They have this rule about no service people on Sundays (it's a gate-guarded community to keep the neds out). I think the original intent was to not allow outdoor construction or landscape activities on Sundays but the guard, who is apparently still smarting from his rejection by Delta Force, decides it applies to short Russian appliance repairment too. So I have to send Stalker Girl down to the guardhouse. Poor bastard didn't know what hit him. [:D]

Bosch vs. (hecho en Mexico) Whirlpool? How do YOU think it would come out?

... or, the next time, if the next repairman happen to be Japanese, you could ask him about P40s vs Zeros [:D][:'(]

Japanese starting positions. There are also two AV's at Rekata Bay NW of Tulagi and a transport group at Tulagi

The sensible thing to do seems to be to make for Port Moresby pronto, hope the carrier engagement is favorable to the IJN and take the place. PM is worth 1400 pts to Japan.
This is why I am thinking about doing something different. [:)]

Further to the SE. The Japanese ships at Rekata Bay and Tulagi (and for that matter the
Shoho group) are vulnerable to a Northward movement of the US carriers before the Jap CV's can engage. Best for them to run away on turn 1 me thinks.
There is a small chancee of a major carrier engagement on turn
one if the US carriers move too aggressively. This seems a really bad idea for the Allies.

He will expect you to do the unexpected, so attacking Port Moresby is the unexpected move!?!

Agreed. Feint somewhere else and then go straight in.

Here is the deal. Luganvile and Efate are unoccupied. Noumea has just two HQ units with 3 or 4 AV points and no forts or CD guns. When you total up the pt. swing if they were to fall to Japan it is about 1050.
I am thinking of feigning the obvious attack, but instead capturing all 3 bases to the East. This might compel an open ocean carrier fight near Noumea. 2 USN CV's vs Shokaku and Zuikaku and Shoho on or around turn 5-6 which is likely to go in Japan's favor. I both US carriers were incapacitated and at least one IJN carrier remained, I can push west and try for Cairns/Cooktown or Rockhampton/Bundaberg.
Quite a few ifs. [:)] There is also the problem of what happens when playing as Allies. If you lose either game badly it is over.
