Hello Folks!

I have just posted a new scenario from Redleg. :)
Hope you enjoy it!

TAKING BRECOURT MANOR
U.S. Assault vs Germany
The Normandy Campaign
1200 June 6, 1944
For Version 7
15 Turns
Scenario Design: Redleg

This is a medium (company+) sized battle that can be played in a hour or so. The use of armor in an infantry support role is important in this battle.

By 1200 on D-day, the 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment was closing in on the 1st Battalion, 6th Fallshirmjager (FJ) Regiment who were attempting to defend Brecourt Manor in Normandy.

The determined German defenders caused the 506th to send for armored support from the 70th Tank Battalion and 8th Infantry division.

This scenario begins just as the U.S. paratroopers close in on Brecourt Manor. This is Bocage country and the FJ have had time to prepare their defense. The hedgerows (bocage) will provide excellent cover for the FJ and they will fight hard.

Design notes: The roads near Brecourt were somewhat sunken. The hedgerows are slightly elevated. Note that the buildings of Brecourt Manor a quite tall. Victory hexes in this battle are of not much value but most will need to be taken to secure a victory. The player will be given a bonus for every German casualty produced.

Take command of the U.S. infantry and the four Shermans set to arrive by turn 4 and drive the FJ from Brecourt Manor.

The Brecourt scenario is a hard battle between elite forces.

And, the hedgerows (bocage) are an absolute nightmare.

BTW, sources differ on whether 88s were present at Brecourt. I chose between the opinions that they were NOT. Good news for the Sherman jocks.

Good result, Chief. You handled those troops just right.

I like the bocage.

There'll be some more Normandy soon. Les Forges and La Fiere Bridge, I think. More wild PIR fighting.

To anyone concerned I just played "Task Force Butler" by Steve 'Warrior' Avery, down loaded from Tankheads site. Let me say this one is a keeper, Warrior had me guessing from the beginning. Thanks warrior

Tankhead: Your tactics worked again MV, USA 13039 vs Germans 4338, losses men US 253 vs G 943, Losses US 8 AFVs vs G40, additional US losses 11 APC's and 1 AC.

Thanks to you both. :)
