Why does WITE show some Army Corp designations with the 'expanded' roman numbers?

i.e. XXXXIII instead of XLIII

And which is correct I guess...

Personally I find the XLIII easier to distinguish than all the XXXX's

The Germans used XXXX's instead of XL's

Well it's a bit more complicated than that. Originally they used XXXX instead of XL, when they discovered the error they tried to correct it but somehow the new official designations did not always catch on so affected formations could be called XXXX or XL just depending on a particular scribe's knowledge level and/or habit.

Thats pretty funny considering the professional reputation of the German Army, wonder who pointed it out and how it went down..
