Gaul question.

I'm new to the game and it's excellent! There is an option to send an army to Gaul. After reading about Gaul in the rules I can't see any reason why I would ever pick this option. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any opinions.

1. Sometimes you have no choice and Senate picks it for you.
2. The province can yield 3-4 Gallic units (one per turn) - a waste if you have an idle general. Make sure Gallic Aid is in effect though, otherwise you will subject yourself to Gallic attrition.
3. It's a step toward Italy. If Genoa is well-protected and your transport capacity is too low, Gaul is the only option for a general leaving Spain to Italy with reinforcements for Hannibal.
4. Regardless of what was said above, it's still not the best option, but an option nevertheless.
