Stacking

Game looks very interesting. I own Storm over Pacific and ToW already. Just curious if the engine in ToF will have the ability to stack units? Something that I feel would very much enhance the game.

Thanks

Or how about a way to combine or split units? Keeps the original concept of one unit per hex but gives players more flexibility.

So a Corps unit becomes 2 Division and 1 unit moves off leaving the other behind? Or a Division sized unit moves onto another and automatically combines?

Sounds great but would be a nightmare to come up with a set of rules to govern this behaviour and code this.
Not going to happen.

If we had added stacking we would have lost part of Panzer General feeling, which is the value we really do appreciate. However exactly as Plain Ian suggest we are focused on providing more flexibility thorough introduction of various features like units' swapping or splitting. Also combining is on a list to do.

This sounds good and will be welcome additions for sure!

Well I'm impressed that you continue to try to improve the RTV/ToW game engine especially when you have Bitter Glory also in the pipeline.

Combining and splitting would be a very nice feature for the game.It might add a level of complexity that people might not want so you may have to make it an option.

On the other hand if you you make splitting/combining a simple process (one GUI click) and keep choices low (only land/air units must of the same 'type' eg infantry/armour/fighter/bomber) plus keep number of units low (max split/combination of 2) then this might not be necessary.

They are simple processes.
