Planetary shield - need help

Hello everybody,
I've got a problem with the planetary shield: how can I blow it up? [&:] My warships don't attack a planet protected with the shield and troop transports don't deploy troops. All they can do is hanging over, looking like asking one another "Wasn't you to carry the shield screwier?". I've got a fleet with more 12000 firepower, 19 well trained troops and cannot invade a miserable planet only because it's behind a shield? [:@]

Hi Kemiosabe and welcome to the community. Haven't played with this yet but when you say your warships don't attack the planet are you refering to bombardment? I think this is supposed to take it out.
I'll check also the options.

Scratch that, just checked in game and on the pedia...the shield prevents damage from bombardment. It does not say anything about preventing ground assaults though so I guess that invasions should still occur and there is another cause for why they don't do it in your case. There are some problems related to this, how exactly did you try to invade the planet?

Confirmed, used the editor to quickly setup a test and the troops were indeed unloaded to the planet and began to fight for it. Did not wait to see if after victory the shield will be preserved or destroyed but from earlier requests I gather that planetary facilities are not affected by ground combat (they should be imho).
So there's something else happening to your troop carriers that prevents them from unloading their troops, the shield does not prevent this.

Hi Data,
I was trying to invade Shakturi home world. I destroyed its spaceport with fleet's big guns and then go for planetary assault. One transport deployed troops regularly, the others don't. No matter how many times I ordered them to invade. I'm sure the only troops I succeeded in deploy are from transports since I'm used to deploy them from transports only, warship having only fighter bay. This is not the first time it occurred, it happened to me in other games with different planets (usually I cannot deploy a single troop)
Problem is: if I cannot bombard the planet and warship don't shoot at the shield, how can I disable / destroy / blow it up? The only viable option seems to be invasion which, in my case, doesn't work that much. Is that a bug or a "simple" missing option?

Possibly the ones refusing to deploy troops had "invade when clear", and considered the planetary shield making the situation "not clear". Just a possiblity, I have not tested it in any way. Troop transport usually got default order "invade immediately", while other ship's don't.

If this is so it should be easy to check. I exited from my test run but maybe Kemiosabe can try it and see if it works.

Hi everybody,
I made another test and tried to invade again Shaktur home world. Conditions are the same of the previous try, but this time I succeeded in deploying all my troops and they conquered the planet. Everything goes as it should be this time, but I still don't know why. [&:]
To Data: Planetary facilities are not destroyed by ground battles, I got four of them without a scratch by conquering the planet.
To Bingeling: my transports had the default order, all of them, but only one behaved as expect, at least the first time.

Thank you also Kemiosabe for confirming on the planetary facilities status during and after invasion.
Since the second time it did work without you changing anything than it was surely a problem of some kind. If you're still interested and have a save game at that location I'll be happy to take a look.
