Fellow emperors! Help your kin in tough decision!

I'm making an AAR in near future and wanted to add some extra spice to my first one.
So, I'm asking YOU to tell me what race and goverment I should be playing. Note that the AAR will be leaning slightly more to the humorous end. 'Cause of that, even the most odd race/goverment combos are fine by me; I love RPing strange situations.
Thanks in advance.

Boskara democracy?
A somewhat peaceful government with some rebellious fleet admirals causing trouble could be expected.

exiled Naxxilians, forbidden to play Todash? Never heard of feudalism being used up to now.

Hmm, tough one, maybe a military dictatorship TEEKAN empire which is bent on conquering all lizards and building huge fires to make lizard barbecue?![:D][:D][:D] Revenge of the rodents, mwhahahahha[:'(] So only be hostile to lizard folk like Mortalen, Hakoonish, and whoever is a lizar in any way, and after they're done for go cannibal and eat/conquer rat empires, then bug ones and so on.
Or maybe a peaceful gizurean trading empire/mercantile guild/republic?
Also, a goal for any of these games would be to keep your colonies compact, as in not go for any planet further than 1.5 sectors away, and once you hit 20 colonies not colonize anymore until they all develop, then do so at 40 and so on. This should prevent a fast ending.
Cheers

Both Boskara democracy and Teekan dictatorships sound like interesting choices. Boskaras would definetly be pleasent choice as I would be playing with Woodmans excellent ships.
Peaceful Boskaras fighting their war-like kin and other bloodthirsty insects would be quite entertaining indeed.
EDIT: Just came up with insanely twisted plot twist for the peaceful Boskaras. If I happen to pick them you should expect quite interesting AAR.

I'll probably start on 25th or 26th day. Need to finish my current game as Kiadians, play some Patapon 3 and visit my family at eastern.

A small update: I "stumbled" upon some Uber classics at GOG, namely Freespace 2, Fallout 2 (I hate myself for not having played this before) and original Unreal tournament. These games will take majority of my free time, S.P.A.Z Beta starts at next week and I've got some real world chores on the top of it.
All this means that my AAR may be a little late. I can't promise anything but I'll try to start it no later than this weekend.
Now, back to installing HD FS2_Open for Freespace 2.

From my part go right ahead....I'm in almost the exact same spot as you.
Only that I was provided for by Merker's suggestions from abandonia.....which kinda returned me to SR2, go figure
So have fun [:)]

Hah! It sure would.
I've pretty much made my choice about the race. I'll be picking Boskara democracy or rebuplic. Have came up with kinda interesting backstory for 'em and also a twisted plot twist. Should be good for what I've thought about it myself.
Off-topic side-notes:
Freespace 2 with Open source projects HD graphs, updated models and textures is SOOOOOoooo good! Like finding long-lost best friend. I shall never uninstall it again! I'll rather chop off my fingers!
Fallout 2 on the other hand has been kinda mixed bag for me. The game's definetly an excellent RPG classic but there are some things that I find very annoying:
1) The random encounters are just messed up. Eight of ten encounters are almost impossible due to amount and quality of enemies in them. I had to reload over 10 times(!) while trying to travel to Vault City from Den, 'cause I could not survive any encounters along the way. I kid you not!
Oh, And I have that funny tribal dude, Siluk, with me BTW. I and We be bringing the pain on you now, man. [:D]
2) There's something very strange about the hit percentages sometimes: About ten misses in row with 30-40% accuracy! Yeah right...
3) I'm not a friend of time limits. I love Fallout 2 and Star Control 2, but I still hate time limits in open world games.
Anyways, enough ranting! The games excellent but has its annoyances.
And about UT:
MONSTER KILL! That is all.

Necro/update on this topic:
I'll be waiting for the "Legends" expansion to start the AAR. The new features should make AAR so very much interesting.
I'm still serious about doing an AAR, just other games and real-life stuff (doing a degree of building manager) taking my time.
Expansion should give me more than enough incentive.
